Ever since I was around 12 years old I’ve had a passion for radio. While my friends would be outside playing football or riding their bikes I’d be in my bedroom surrounded by old record players, tape recorders, 7-inch singles and LP records … remember them?
I’d put together radio shows just for myself, nobody was listening apart from my parents who were convinced I was quite mad! When I left school all I wanted to do was be on the radio.
It took a while - about 40 years - then I had the chance to broadcast on Hospital Radio. The next step for me was Community Radio and I’m thrilled to be part of Burgess Hill Radio.
My taste in music covers a huge spectrum but I suppose my favourite decades are the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s.
When I’m not presenting my afternoon show I’m responsible for the smooth running of the radio station covering everything from selling sponsorship and advert packages to making sure the rent is paid on time!
I work closely with Steve Bird, our Breakfast Show presenter and Programme Manager to make sure that your Community Radio Station does what it is supposed to do, to entertain and inform you and keep you in touch with the great community we have in Burgess Hill and the surrounding area!
My weekday afternoon show from Monday to Thursday between 2pm and 6pm is simply called 'The Bit in the Afternoon' and I play music from across the decades from the 1960's right up to today's charts! Some songs you’ll know and love, others you may not have heard for a long time and there may even be some songs you’ve never heard! So join me for a musical trip through the last 60 years and get in touch by emailing me any time at firstname.lastname@example.org
