Hassocks VE Day Celebrations Friday 8th May 12noon-4pm – Adastra Park This year, our annual May Day event will be held on Friday 8th May in celebration of the 75th anniversary of Victory of Europe, with a theme of 1940’s. We are looking to have a 1940’s period dressing up area and/or makeup and hair styling, and “Story Board of Hassocks in 1940’s”. With help from Burgess Hill Radio we will be playing some music from the era. A display of Home Front artefacts will inform you of a time gone by. Hassocks VE Day Celebrations will have our regular participants and activities too: a café run by PearlPower (all cake donations greatly received), bring your dog along to enter our dog show, visit all the community and charity stalls including Clayton and Keymer Church, WI and Friends of Hassocks Infants School to name a few, and have a go at whittling with the National Trust. Keymer and Hassocks Sports and Social Club will be open with a variety of beers and BBQ, Cairovan will be offering their delicious street food and we welcome the Sloe Gin van too. And once again we will have fun dancing at the maypole! If you would like to help or get involved please get in touch by email michellebinks5@outlook.com Please follow us on Facebook @hassocksmayday for more information. Michelle Binks, Organiser
